How do I get this file?
  1. In Rise, open the course you want to turn into slides.
  2. Click Publish, then choose Web. (The LMS version, the one made for a learning platform, works too.)
  3. Rise gives you a file to download — drop that file here.
Is it really private?

Yes. When you open this page, your browser downloads BuddySlides itself. From then on, everything happens on your computer: your course file is read there, and the PowerPoint is built there. Neither one is sent anywhere — not to us, not to anyone.

You can check it yourself. Open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab, and convert a course. You'll see the page load its own files and send one tiny count when your deck is ready (just the word “converted” and which page you used), and nothing carrying your course.

Make a safe copy of your course

If your report wasn’t enough for us to find the problem, this makes a copy of your course we can test with instead. It keeps how the course is built (lessons, block types, settings and colors) and replaces every word, number, picture, video, sound, file name and link.

It all happens here on your computer. Nothing is uploaded. You look the copy over first, and it only reaches us if you attach it to your reply yourself.

the same .zip you converted — or drop it here

How can I be sure it takes everything out?

You can see for yourself. Before you send anything, step 1 turns the copy into slides. Open them and flip through: you’ll see placeholder words, grey pictures and random numbers where your course was.

Anyone can check how it works. The instructions this page follows to make the copy are published openly, so someone technical — your IT team, for example — can read them and confirm it does what we say. Nothing about it is hidden.

For IT teams and developers: the code is on GitHub (buddyslides-safe-copy), MIT-licensed, with tests.

Apply your edits to other languages

Changed the pictures on one language’s deck? Drop in the original course (.zip) and your edited deck (.pptx). We’ll rebuild every other language with the same picture changes, and each keeps its own translated text.

What carries over: pictures you moved, resized, cropped, swapped, deleted or added. Text is laid out fresh in each language, so moving a text box doesn’t carry over.

How it works

  1. 1

    Your course lives in Rise.

Publish it as Web or LMS, and Rise gives you one file.

  2. 2

    Drop it into BuddySlides.

It’s converted right here on your computer. Nothing is uploaded.

  3. 3

    Get an editable PowerPoint.

Real text and pictures you can change, in the look you pick.

From Rise lesson to finished slide

BuddySlides reads your course and designs each part as a slide.

Drag it: a lesson in Rise on the left, and the PowerPoint slide BuddySlides made from it on the right. The picture comes along too.

Your course, in the look you want

Every lesson, quiz and picture becomes a real slide you can edit, and what doesn’t fit goes in the speaker notes. Pick Clean, Editorial, Bold or Poster.

A picture slide in the Clean look: a plain heading, a drawn picture of a sun over green hills in rounded corners, and the paragraph beside it on light gray
Clean · simple and calm
A picture slide in the Editorial look: a Georgia headline and the paragraph on warm cream, with the picture running to the slide's edge
Editorial · like a magazine
A steps slide in the Bold look: dark, with giant blue numbers 1, 2 and 3 over Stop, Assess and Clean up
Bold · dark, huge headlines
A picture slide in the Poster look: a blue panel with a yellow sticker label, the headline in tall capitals, the paragraph on a white ticket and the picture filling the other half
Poster · loud and playful

Fix the pictures once, in every language

Fix the pictures on one deck, and BuddySlides copies the fixes into every other language. Each one keeps its own translated text. Try it: edit the English slide, then apply it.

Moved, resized, cropped, swapped, added or deleted pictures all carry over.

Good to know

What comes across, and what doesn’t?

Almost everything: text and lists, pictures and galleries, tables and charts (still editable), videos, quizzes and knowledge checks with the right answers marked, and click-to-reveal parts like tabs, accordions, flashcards and labeled graphics, laid out so everything shows at once.

What can’t: things that only work by clicking in a browser. Quizzes come across, but nothing scores them. A scenario’s scenes come across, but its choices can’t lead anywhere. Storyline blocks can’t be converted at all. These get a slide or a speaker note pointing back to the original course, and when the deck is ready, BuddySlides lists anything it couldn’t bring across.

Which fonts does it use?

Your course’s own fonts. If a font isn’t installed on the computer that opens the deck, PowerPoint shows a similar one instead. When the deck is ready, BuddySlides tells you which fonts the course uses, so you can install them for an exact match.

Which languages does it work with?

Any language your Rise course is written in. For right-to-left languages such as Arabic and Hebrew, check the text alignment in PowerPoint before you present.

Translated in Rise? Publish the course with all its languages in one file: a Web export always includes them, and for LMS choose “Publish selected languages as a single LMS package”. BuddySlides finds the languages and lets you pick one, or make a deck for each.
